Being Church

An ongoing conversation

God is building a home. God is using us all—irrespective of how we got here—in what is being built ... We see it taking shape day after day—a holy temple built by God, all of us built into it, a temple in which God is quite at home.  Ephesians 2:2  n

We belong to the worldwide communion of Catholics and share much in common with our sisters and brothers in other Catholic traditions. And so it is heartbreaking to witness the heavy-handed action of the Vatican directed toward Roman Catholic religious women in the United States. I urge you to stand with them in recognition of their faith, their works of mercy and love, and of the many ways they help others recognize the presence and action of God in the world. The Church is all of the people bringing their gifts of wisdom and faith together to create a sensum fidelium, a sense of the faithful. The Church is not an unruly herd that must be poked and prodded by an episcopate that is aloof from the people it pretends to pastor. Please consider supporting the women religious by following this link and signing a petition of protest for the Vatican's action.
