Parish Life

Sunday April 25.      Young folks, old folks, everybody come! Join our Dangerous Sunday School and have yourself some fun...Start your day off by living dangerously! Risk attending Seattle's Most Dangerous Sunday School and see what you learn. It begins at 8:30 (see the section below for topic). Mass follows at 10:00. Sundays at Saint Ignatius are always an experience -- why not share the experience of St. Ignatius with a friend or two. Next Sunday is our monthly pancake breakfast with the Methodist congregation. Bring a friend--or two. It is the best Sunday breakfast deal in town!

And thanks to a certain parishioner who noticed that we lack a holy water font. He thought it important that we have one, and because of his thoughtfulness and generosity we now do. Thanks!

Centering Prayer Group.      Hank Fraczek is leading a centering prayer group on Tuesdays starting at 10:00 AM, in the worship space. You do need to commit to coming regularly; come as you are able. For more information about this group you can contact Hank by clicking on this link: Centering Group .

Practice...      Composition of place. How does it affect the way you read and reflect on scripture?

Coming Soon...     Body Parts. Lent may be over, but hopefully the gifts of our repentance, literally turning in a new direction, are with us. We will extend the parish Lenten practice of adding in (as opposed to giving up) so that our practice will become steady and true to the gospel. Soon the sanctuary will be filled with body parts, including some of yours. More details soon...!

How We Do Anything ...      is how we do anything. We cannot be anything more than "fans" (rather than followers) of Jesus until we believe by our actions that others are to be treated at least as well as we treat ourselves. There is real hunger in our city. Create justice! Be outraged by this suffering and act Let's do all that we can to end this shameful suffering that is an affront to God. on that feeling! No follower of Christ would feed him or herself without feeding another. Please bring food for the foodbank each time you come to mass. Which of us would let a family member go hungry? These are our brothers and sisters.

Practice...       The Examen, at least once a day. Notice what is trying to happen when you do.

ECC Synod.      The biennial synod of the ECC will be held in Orange, California from October 23 through the 25th in Orange, California. Any one is welcome to attend. Our parish is allocated two voting delegates in the House of Laity and one delegate in the House of Pastors. Are you interested in representing our parish as a delegate? Talk to Rosemary Hill. It would be great to have St. Ignatius fully represented! The host community is Saint Matthew, the home church of Bishop Peter.

An ECC Community in Spokane.      Fr. Tom Altepeter and his wife Carla have relocated from Wisconsin to Spokane. Fr. Tom was the founding pastor of a parish in Wisconsin and hopes to develop an ECC parish in the Spokane area. If you have family and friends in that area who would be interested in an ECC parish, please have them contact Fr. Tom. His email address is tsaphd@gmail.com.

Practice...      Or get ready to practice, voluntary poverty. What would that mean in your life?

ECC is Growing And We Have a Part To Play.      In the last year, our communion has become international, and we are continuing to see interest in many countries in Europe We have seen good growth in the United States as well. We are challenged by Bishop Peter to sponsor mission parishes. Fr. philip gets requests through the year from people outside of the area who are interested in an ECC community. Do you have friends living elsewhere in Washington or Oregon who are looking for ways to live their Catholic faith in a re-forming way? Please talk to fr. philip if you do.
